Island Custom was started in 2015 and over time has solidified its belief that there are ways to grow business without major negative impact on the people/workers and the environment. It’s evolution towards becoming a more sustainable business practices has meant moving deeper into arts and craft education.

Meet Penina, the Founder of Island Custom
Hi, I’m Penina!
I’ve always enjoyed sewing, creating and inventing things. As Samoan/Pakeha, growing up in Papua New Guinea and now calling New Zealand my home, Island Custom brings my love of the South Pacific and my passion for creating things, together!
I have University degrees in Information Systems and also Primary and Secondary Teaching.

The flower is a “Pua” (in Samoan) or Plumeria flower in english. It is more commonly known as the Frangipani. It blooms everywhere in the Pacific Islands and it’s beauty and fragrant smell make it one of Penina’s favourite flowers!
“Island” represents both ancestral heritage and also connect us to Kapiti Island which is where our base is.
